Janine Boldrin Managing Editor Gratitude WELCOME TO THE 150 TH ISSUE OF MILITARY SPOUSE! A lot has changed since the first issue of the magazine was published in 2004. Military spouses are still very active in their communities and rely on each other for support, but we also have become a more vocal group, advocating for changes that will help us thrive in this crazy life. While we still have to deal with the challenges of moving and the deploy- ments, we've also been sharing our stories to help make the transitions and separations easier. Military Spouse maga- zine and have been through all of the changes with you, changing our look and content to meet the needs of the modern military spouse. E D I T O R ' S N O T E From the beginning, we've brought you interviews with important figures who influence and impact the military spouse world, and you've shared your stories with each other. The articles on our pages, writ- ten by military spouses, have provided tips and advice that have helped readers navigate big (and small) challenges. We are filled with gratitude for all of the military spouses who have contributed to our pages over the past 150 issues. For this month's issue, we continue the traditions started with the first issue of the magazine. We talk to influencers like Second Lady Karen Pence, who I interviewed about the work she is doing to highlight military spouses and the key issues they face (page 18). Our milspouse writers continue to tackle tough topics, like being married to a service member who is struggling with alcoholism (see page 16). And we always have lots of real-life tips. In this month's issue, we give ideas for the holiday season (pages 30 and 32). No matter where the military sends you and your family, we want to continue to be the place you go to find community, inspiration, and the courage to do great things. This life isn't always easy, but it is easier to go through if we can do it together. The brooch was gifted to Mrs. Pence and has been worn for several interviews. Lauren Hope of Hope Design, LtdĀ® created this beautiful brooch. As a military spouse herself, she carefully handcrafts unique jewelry and accessories to honor our military community. You can visit Hope Design at . Flash back to some of our favorite issues when you see this brooch throughout the magazine! 6 MILITARYSPOUSE.COM / NOVEMBER 2018
