Thanksgiving doesn't always have to mean two days in a kitchen and dishes for days. How does a day at the beach with a good book sound? You could also check out local attractions and have a "staycation." GIVE BACK One of the greatest ways to be thankful for the abundance in our lives is to serve people that do without. Look up organizations in your local area that will be serving the less fortunate during the Thanksgiving holiday. Volunteer at a soup kitchen as a family or work with a local grocer to put together a food drive. Build community around compas- sion and generosity. Our favorite thing to do is to host a packing party for Operation Christmas Child, a non-profit organization that fills shoe boxes with gifts bound for children in third-world countries. Step outside of the familiar and try something out of the ordinary. Open your front door and light a pathway to friendship. Be a place of connection and share with those who have need of fellowship. Whether you are spending this November far from home or with those near and dear, take time to just enjoy the moment. Happy Thanksgiving!
