3 2 1 Celebrate Thanksgiving ...with these 5 ideas. By Megan Brown, Air Force Spouse W H A T W E L O V E GET COOKING Plan a menu together and pull the whole family into the kitchen. Share memo- ries making new recipes and break out the fancy dishes. Set the table in style and celebrate Thanksgiv- ing in an intimate setting with those you love most! Our family loves to use Thanksgiving as an op- portunity to try out new Christmas cookie recipes. Our favorite cookie to make together is my mother's classic chocolate chip cookie (see the recipe on pg. 24). SHARE THE LOVE Try hosting a "Friends- giving." Invite your close friends that feel like family over for a good old fashioned potluck. Share the day surrounded with fun and fellowship. You could even look into hosting it at a local community center or your church. One year, when our family hosted "Friendsgiving," we had an ornament exchange to create a new tradition in that community. Contact your local installation helping agency, such as Airman and Family Readiness or the Family Readi- ness Group. These agencies typically have a list of fellow service members that will be staying on station for the holiday and would love to share a meal with others and be in your company. >> 22 MILITARYSPOUSE.COM / NOVEMBER 2018
